Lectures and Courses

Members of the Committee regularly give talks of various kinds on Roman Archaeology to the wider community.

In recent years David Kennedy has given courses through UWA Extension on "Roman Britain: Invasion and Conquest" (2002); "Hadrian's Wall" (2004); "Petra and the Nabataeans" (2004); (with Glenys Wootton) "Bread and Circuses" (2005); "The Roman Army" (2006); "Britain in the Roman Empire" (2007)
In January and February 2007 David Kennedy gave lectures on five consecutive weeks to a UWA Extension class on the theme of "Britain in the Roman Empire"
In August 2007, The Treasurer, Maire Gomes, talked on "Roman Archaeology" to the University of the Third Age (U3A) at Rockingham.
In November 2007 David Kennedy talked on "Roman Britain" at Dalkeith Library for the Joondalup Libraries group
In January 2008 David Kennedy did a 45 minute interview and talk on Roman Archaeology on Radio Twin Cities FM in the northern suburbs.
In June 2008 David Kennedy gave lectures on 4 consecutive weeks to a UWA Extension class on the theme "Everyday Life in the Roman Army"
On 26 July one of the regular Saturday afternoon sessions of the Roman Archaeology Group was opened up to TEE Ancient History students. About 100 students together with a number of their teachers and parents joined about 70 Members at a 4-lecture stretched session on Julius Caesar.
